SF Examiner editorial board demands Pope remove prelate who excluded Pelosi from communion over abortion

As a result of Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone's decision to withhold Holy Communion to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., because of her unwavering support for abortion

To Pelosi, Cordileone sent a letter on Friday, in which he warned her that she would be unable to take Communion because of Roe v. Wade's impending codification.

In his letter, he said, "You are not to present yourself for Holy Communion, and should you do so, you will not be allowed to Holy Communion."

Because of her support for abortion, the Archbishop of San Francisco has barred Nancy Pelosi from receiving Holy Communion at his cathedral

To this the editorial board of a liberal publication responded by blasting the Catholic leader for "punishing" Pelosi instead of "right-wing lawmakers" who "[vote] against health care

There is no doubt in their minds that she is a leader who has battled on the ethically correct side of these issues, and that she is an inspiration to women everywhere

The editorial board stated that the archbishop was being unfaithful to Christ by denying Pelosi Holy Communion.
