MWL Pitcher of the Week is TinCaps' Gasser

Fort Wayne, Indiana Minor League Baseball named Robert Gasser the High-A Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for June 13-19.

Fort Wayne's 2021 second-round selection made two starts at Lansing. Gasser pitched 12 innings with 12 strikeouts, 4 hits, and 3 walks.

The Californian tossed seven no-hit innings in Sunday's series finale. The southpaw walked his first batter, then retired 21 straight Lugnuts. The UH grad won that start 

Gasser has pitched 13 1/3 scoreless innings since June 8. He ranks third in the Midwest League in strikeouts (80) and sixth in ERA (4.10). He's struck out 31% of hitters, or 11.31 per nine.

This is the second weekly award for a TinCaps pitcher this season. Brandon Komar received Midwestern League Pitcher of the Week. Joshua Mears was selected Midwest League Player

After beating Lansing 14-0 on Sunday and tying a club record with 22 hits, Gasser and the TinCaps host the Great Lakes Loons on Tuesday (Los Angeles Dodgers affiliate).
