DC police officer among multiple people shot at Juneteenth event

Juneteenth celebrations along the 14th Street Corridor have resulted in the shooting of many persons, including a Metropolitan Police Officer.

"A shooting event in which many persons have been shot," the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington D.C. stated in a tweet late Sunday night.

Residents in the prominent D.C. area were hit by gunfire, but no one was injured, according to the police.

DC Police Union tweeted that "The member has been brought to hospital and is in stable condition" after the shooting of an officer.

In the early evening hours of the Juneteenth celebration, known as "Moechella," social media users started reporting that they had been crushed by a stampede.
