Bart Bryant, a three-time PGA Tour champion who beat Tiger Woods twice, died in a vehicle accident on Tuesday.
Bryant and his wife Donna were going from Atlanta to Winter Garden when the tragedy happened.
Gatesville, Texas, near Waco, was Bryant's hometown. Bryant's pro career was hampered early by injury
But he persevered and won in his home state of Texas in his 187th start, after 18 years and six visits to Q-school.
Bryant scored 67 both days of the Texas Open at La Cantera Golf Club's Resort Course.
He tied a record with a third-round 60, the fourth time such a score has been achieved.
